Aerobus timetable: the one that never closes

The Aerobus runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year. That is its real edge over the metro and the train, which both close overnight. If your flight leaves at six in the morning or lands at two, this stops being a price comparison.

When the timetable decides for you

On weekdays the Barcelona metro closes around midnight, and Rodalies trains thin out sharply at either end of the day. The Aerobus does not: at four in the morning it is still leaving. For an early flight, your realistic options are the Aerobus, the NitBus or a taxi.

The same applies coming in. Landing late and not wanting to depend on a taxi, the Aerobus is the only direct public transport to the centre at any hour.

How much time to allow

The 35 minutes assumes normal traffic. It is a surface bus, so at rush hour and in the rain it stretches; the metro and train do not suffer that. If you are tight on time and flying from T1, the Rodalies train to the airport station is more predictable.

Watch out on event days.

The Three Kings parade, the half marathon and other races close central streets and move or suspend Aerobus stops. If you are travelling on one of those days, check the operator's notices before heading down: the bus still runs, it just may not leave from where you expect.

Frequently asked questions

What time does the Aerobus start and finish?

It does not finish. The service has run 24 hours a day, every day of the year, since July 2021. That is its main advantage over the metro, which closes overnight on weekdays.

How long does the Aerobus take to Plaça de Catalunya?

About 35 minutes. It can run longer at peak times because it travels on the surface, unlike the metro.

How early should I leave for the airport?

Allow 35 minutes of travel plus the wait. For a European flight with hand luggage, leaving Plaça de Catalunya two and a half hours before departure is comfortable.

Do the Aerobus stops ever change?

Yes. For the Three Kings parade, the half marathon and other events with road closures, stops move or are suspended. The operator publishes notices before each one.
