Barcelona Bus Turístic: price, routes and whether it is worth it

29,70 € for 24 hours. Two routes leaving Plaça de Catalunya, each about two hours a loop. It works well as a way to get your bearings on day one, and badly as a means of transport — and that confusion is what ruins the purchase.

The two routes

Red Route

Plaça de Catalunya → Arc de Triomf. Passing Passeig de Gràcia, Plaça d’Espanya, Montjuïc Olympic ring, Fòrum, Sagrada Família.

The Torre Glòries – 22@ stop is suspended; the alternative is on Carrer Badajoz, 160.

Blue Route

Plaça de Catalunya → FC Barcelona stadium. Passing Passeig de Gràcia, Park Güell, Tibidabo, Pedralbes.

The FC Barcelona stop is affected on match days.

Both leave from Plaça de Catalunya, so you can combine them on one ticket. But a full loop is about 2 hours, so doing both in a 24-hour ticket leaves no room to get off anywhere.

The costly mistake.

Plenty of people buy the Bus Turístic thinking it solves their transport. It does not: it runs 09:00 – 19:00, comes every 10–25 minutes, and follows the sightseeing route, not your route. You will still need the metro or a bus.

Compare what it costs: 29,70 € for one day of sightseeing bus against the Hola Barcelona, which for a similar price gives you three days of real transport.

When it does earn its keep

If it is your first time in Barcelona and you have two or three days, a full loop on day one gives you a sense of the city's size and shape that no map manages. It also works well with children, with reduced mobility, or on a hot day, because it climbs Montjuïc and Tibidabo without you walking.

What it is not: a cheap way to get from your hotel to dinner.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Barcelona Bus Turístic?

29,70 € for a 24-hour ticket and 39,60 € for 48 hours, adult fare bought online.

How many routes are there?

The official timetable publishes two: the Red Route and the Blue Route. There is also a green coastal route whose service varies by season.

How long is a full loop?

No. It runs 09:00 – 19:00 and comes every 10 to 25 minutes. To get places, the metro is faster and far cheaper.

Is it included in the Barcelona Card?

No. The Bus Turístic is bought separately, although the Barcelona Card gives a discount on it.
