Is the Hola Barcelona Travel Card worth it?
Short answer: if you will use transport heavily and arrive by metro from the airport, yes. If you plan to walk most of the time, almost certainly not. The threshold is higher than people expect, and here is the exact number.
The number that decides it
A single journey on a T-casual works out at 1,30 € (13,00 € for 10 journeys). Divide each Hola Barcelona price by that and you get how many journeys you need just to break even:
| Duration | Price | Equal to | Journeys a day |
|---|---|---|---|
| 48 h (2 days) | 17,76 € | 14 journeys | 7 |
| 72 h (3 days) | 25,94 € | 20 journeys | 6.7 |
| 96 h (4 days) | 33,82 € | 27 journeys | 6.8 |
| 120 h (5 days) | 41,42 € | 32 journeys | 6.4 |
That last column is the point. The 72-hour card needs about 6.7 journeys a day to break even. A typical visitor makes four to five. On city transport alone, the T-casual wins most of the time.
Then there is the airport, which changes everything.
The T-casual is not valid at the Aeroport T1 and T2 metro stations. If you arrive and leave by metro, add two Airport tickets at 5,90 € each. That is 11,80 € on top, and suddenly it is level: T-casual plus airport comes to 24,80 € against 25,94 € for the 72-hour Hola Barcelona, which already includes it.

Use your own numbers
Your trip is not the average trip. Put in your days, your travellers and whether you will visit museums, and you get your arithmetic instead of a rule of thumb:
Which ticket works out cheapest?
Official prices, updated 22 October 2026. We tell you what to buy — and when no pass is worth it.
When it works and when it does not
Worth it if you arrive and leave by airport metro, if you are staying away from the centre, if you are taking day trips inside zone 1, or if you are travelling with children and would rather not count journeys.
Not worth it if you are in the Gòtic or the Eixample and plan to walk the city, if you arrive by Aerobus or taxi, or if you are only here for a long weekend.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Hola Barcelona Travel Card worth it?
It depends how much you move. The 72-hour card is 25,94 €, the same as 20 single journeys on a T-casual. Fewer than 20 journeys over three days and the T-casual is cheaper — unless you need the airport metro.
Does the Hola Barcelona include the airport?
Yes. One metro journey from the airport and one back. That is its main advantage over the T-casual, which is not valid at Aeroport T1 and T2.
Is the Aerobus included in the Hola Barcelona?
No. It covers the metro to the airport, not the Aerobus, which is a separate commercial service with its own ticket.
How much is the Hola Barcelona Travel Card for 2 days?
The 48-hour card is 17,76 € bought online, against 18,70 € at the counter.
Can two people share one card?
No. It is personal while in use — two of you cannot pass through on the same card. The hours run from first validation, not from purchase.
