Hola Barcelona or T-casual: which works out better

This is the comparison with the most money in it, and it is usually done badly because people compare price instead of validity. The T-casual is cheaper per journey. The Hola Barcelona can take you to the airport by metro. That is most of the decision.

The break-even point

At 1,30 € a journey, the 72-hour Hola Barcelona is worth 20 journeys. Spread over three days that is nearly 6.7 a day. A normal visitor makes four or five: two out, two back, and the odd extra. Looking at the city alone, the T-casual wins.

Now add the airport.

The T-casual is not valid at Aeroport T1 or T2 on the L9 Sud. If you are coming in and going out by metro, add two Airport tickets at 5,90 €:

T-casual 13,00 € + airport 11,80 € = 24,80 €
Hola Barcelona 72 h, all in = 25,94 €

A difference of 1,14 €. For practical purposes, a tie — and then it comes down to not having to count journeys.

When each one clearly wins

T-casual if you arrive by Aerobus, taxi or train, if you are staying centrally and will walk a lot, or if there are two of you who can buy one each without going over ten journeys.

Hola Barcelona if you come in and out by airport metro, if you are staying outside the centre, or if you are with children and transport will be constant.

And a third case people forget: for a single day there is the T-dia at 12,00 €, unlimited and valid at the airport. For a long layover or a one-day visit it is usually the best of the three.

Which ticket works out cheapest?

Official prices, updated 22 October 2026. We tell you what to buy — and when no pass is worth it.

Which museums will you actually visit?

These are free with the Barcelona Card. Only tick the ones you genuinely want to see — over-ticking is the quickest way to buy a pass that never pays for itself.

The card also covers 11 more museums that the official shop doesn’t sell on their own (Castell de Montjuïc, CCCB, Centre Martorell d’Exposicions, Disseny Hub Barcelona (DHUB)…). We leave them out, so the Barcelona Card’s real saving is a little higher than shown here.
